Eligibility Criteria for Admission

Academic Requirements:
  • Open Category: Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) in 12th HSC or equivalent examination
  • Reserved Category: Minimum 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) in 12th HSC or equivalent examination
Age Requirement: Minimum 17 years as on 31st December in the year of admission Eligibility for Common Entrance Test as per rules and regulations of Government of Maharashtra and Hon. Supreme Court directives

Documents Required for Admission

Students must produce original documents at the time of counseling along with four photocopies of each:
  • Age Nationality Domicile Certificate
  • S.S.C. Passing Certificate
  • H.S.C. Passing Certificate
  • H.S.C. Mark Memo
  • Medical Fitness Certificate
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste Validity Certificate (if applicable)
  • Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (if applicable)
  • Gap Certificate/Undertaking (if applicable)
  • Provisional Selection Letter
  • NEET/Govt/Private CET as per time to time Directions of Hon. Supreme Court and Central & State Govt.
  • Migration Certificate (if applicable)
  • Leaving Certificate/Transfer Certificate
  • Ten Recent Passport size Photographs

Curriculum Structure

Total Duration: 5½ Years (4½ years Main Course + 1 year Internship)

First Professional (1½ years)

Examination: Held at the end of three terms (October/November) Non-clinical subjects. Students must pass all First Professional subjects before proceeding to Second Professional.

Second Professional (1½ years)

Examination: Held after three terms following First Professional (April/May) Subjects:
  • Ras Shastra evam Bhaishajya Kalpana
  • Dravya-Gun-Vigyan
  • Agad Tantra, Vyavahar Ayurved evam vidhi Vaidyak
  • Rog vigyan evam Vikriti Vigyan
  • Charak Samhita Paper I
  • Swashta Vritta

Third Professional (1½ years)

Examination: Held after passing Second Professional examination Subjects:
  • Prasuti Tantra, Stree Rog
  • Kaumar Bhrutya
  • Kaya Chikitsa
  • Shalya Trantra
  • Shalakya Tantra
  • Charak Samhita Paper II
Examinations are held every six months. Students failing in subjects can reappear in subsequent exams.

Compulsory Rotating Internship (1 year)

  • 12 months training in teaching hospitals/Ayurvedic hospitals recognized by University
  • Minimum 6 months in clinical departments of teaching hospital
  • Training may include dispensaries and Primary Health Care Centres

Degree Awarded

Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery – B.A.M.S.) Awarded only after:
  • Passing all prescribed examinations
  • Satisfactory completion of 1-year compulsory rotating internship
  • Certification by Principal based on training authorities’ recommendations
Medium of Instruction: Sanskrit, Hindi, English, and Marathi

Examination Rules

  • Students must pass all subjects in one professional before proceeding to the next
  • Maximum three consecutive attempts allowed for First Professional examination
  • One additional attempt may be permitted with certification from Dean/Principal
  • Exemption in subjects granted for scoring minimum 50% in both theory and practical
